Raised rates

While I believe you shouldn't have raised rates (two years ago?), and offered me a worse plan to keep my rate the same (geez, thanks), at least the claims are easy and processed quickly. You should be willing to front a portion of hospital bills though, some insurance will do that I am currently looking at other plans after my dogs recent hospitalization.

So glad we went ahead with pet insurance

My employer offered pet insurance and we went for it. Glad we did. We just got a lot of money back and feel secure that if anything happens, we're protected. We went with the wellness plan.

Good Coverage But Concerned

We have the full coverage contract that includes wellness coverage. So far, we have been very pleased but we are concerned about the proposed 50% increase for pets in NJ, as well as the tiered increases by age. In addition, we had an unexpected increase in premiums while still in our original tier.

Worth EVERY Cent!!

Chabubba has been insured since the first week we had her....she was rescued from a Humane League after her owner passed away. She has had 3 operations for tumors (2 were benign) but the 3rd was Mast Cell Cancer. Nationwide Insurance (VPI) has always covered her surgeries. Now that she is almost 11, we pay a bit more than we used to but she is worth it. What a piece of mind to know that a large medical expense is going to be reimbursed. Thank you, Nationwide!!!

Takes too long to get money back 😫

I’ve been emailing my claims. It takes too long to get my money back !! Other than that I’m pleased. Wish y’all would have only gone up $10, not $20. Y’all will loose more customers, so that won’t help us or you!!

Easy and a no-brainer decision

Living in the Bay Area I am well acquainted with the high costs of keeping a pet healthy. I did a lot of research prior to choosing Healthy Paws and after also receiving a recommendation for them from a co-worker, I signed up in 2015. I am now so happy I did. Their plans are straight forward and don't have a lot of complicated schedules. No insurance covers the regular exam fees and routine care but for the major mishaps that can happen, they get my vote. Luna developed a heart murmur last year and Healthy Paws came through then covering diagnostics. This year we, unfortunately, had an accident on a walk and required surgery. The surgery was about $5500 and Healthy Paws covered 80% as outlined in the plan I chose. My return on investment has been amazing and you can't say that about too many things. They make submitting claims easy on their site and a few days later I can see the processed claim and the amount in direct deposited into my account. Smooth and simple. I have no complaints.

Best pet insurance

We had this insurance for our fur babies for over 10 years and this was a life saver for us every time our pets had to see the vet. Yes they don’t need the vet everyday but that time they needed it’s very expensive and it happens always when you are not financially prepared, so I would definitely recommend everyone getting this insurance for their pets.

Wonderful but somewhat restricted

I have been using Nationwide since it took over for VPI and have been very happy with the help. It really makes a big difference when you have little issues pop up and think that they are wonderful for that stuff but the wellness plan could be better. I was very surprised when I found out that they only cover so much of tick and flee prevention. I guess any bit helps but I thought that it would be more. I have also referred multiple customers and never received a notification,

Paying for insurance? Good luck with getting things covered for your pet

I have had VPI insurance since my dogs were 6 months old. They are now 7 years old. Since they were bought out by Nationwide there are even more restrictions. You go to the vet having insurance and you have to hope the visit is covered. I have found limits to their visits if it’s for the same type of problem. Even if I try to submit part of it for coverage (ultrasound) I have found they will not cover it. It has become truly disappointing and I would suggest each pet owner check their insurance policies and limits before buying it. It may not be worth it in the end. It’s just like human insurance but worst!

Great and affordable.

Great afforable pet insurance, with 90% reimbursement. They are very helpful and kind, although the time it takes for your claim to be processed took longer than I would like. (Up to a month).
