Things You Should Know…

Too long. Takes about 1 month to hear the standard email of “we’re sorry for the delay”. Then another 2 weeks-4 weeks to receive the EOB. I’ve had my plan for around 5 years and this has ALWAYS been the case. No matter the size of the claim, the timing, etc. No one actually looks at the claims either. Whatever you categorize it as, is what the computer will continue with. I accidentally put “Wellness” on a claim when it was clearly “Illness” if you read the claim, and the EOB still shows “Wellness”—still 6 weeks to return the claim mis-categorized. You cannot change it once you submit to fix it. The app is constantly broken. The website constantly asks you to confirm your identity despite using the same device, every time, even if you just logged in 5 min ago. They keep deceased pets on your profile so you get a constant reminder when you log in. If you sign up, do the least plan possible. I did the highest plan as it was a fine price when they were younger. Well, each year as they age, the price goes up exponentially. If you want to decrease it, you can never go back up, ever. It’s a trap almost which is awful as the older they get, the more you’d like the coverage, and even without claims, it’ll increase regardless due to age of your animal.

Be Proactive with Patience

Generally I like Pets Best. However, they take a long time to process claims. Easily 3-4 times as long as my friends company. But I have a better policy with more coverage and a better online experience. The automatic email communication is subpar. Several times the issue with a claim getting processed was a lack of medical records but Pets Best didn't tell me they weren't getting a response from my Vet. I had to call Pets Best to figure out what was going on over a month later. This could have easily been prevented if in the first delay email they just included WHY the claim was delayed. But again over all I am satisfied that Pets Best is the best option for me and my pupper right now.

10/10

Easy process. Great coverage options. Affordable prices. I compared to other pet insurance options and this was definitely the cheapest, even without my employers 10% discount. And the cost automatically deducts from my paycheck. What a win!

Unneeded exams

You want me to pay for an unneeded exam within the last 6 months when he only needs an annual exam. That is a waste of my money and the vets time. I guess I will not be getting any pet insurance for my boy until his annual exam is due. I will not recommend this company to anybody.

Great and affordable pet Insurance/wellness plans

I am so glad that after searching for the perfect health insurance for almost a year, I came across Prudent Pet and I am very happy with their pricing, their plans, as well as their customer service. As soon as I file a claim, they are responding back with additional information and making this claim process as smooth as possible!

I have this policy for my two dogs…

I have this policy for my two dogs since they were puppies for four years. One dog named Finn had a hole in his face in his cheek and we were trying to treat it with antibiotics for over a year finally in September 2025 he had to have surgery because he had an abscess that was from a tooth And two teeth had to be removed and he was given antibiotics and a few other medicines to clear the hole in his face. When I submitted the claim, they said it wasn't covered because it's routine dental work cleaning the teeth. No he didn't have routine dental work. He had a hole in his face from an abscess and the bill was $386.70 and they refused to pay it. I even went back a second time to the vet to have him send the notes besides an itemized bill saying that it was an abscess and what had to be done. They close the case and said it was cosmetic or wellness. No it wasn't so after two months fighting with them back-and-forth. I called again on December 17 and said that I wanted to cancel the policy because they did not pay a $300 claim when I already paid over $5000 in premiums. The man on the phone said that he would have the adjuster whose name was Reagan reach back out to the vet and talk to them and try to get the claim covered. Well, now it's January 7 And nothing was done so today I called and canceled the insurance. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
