Glad we bought Nationwide for Luke when he was a pup, makes for a much happier and healthier pup.
Luke has had Nationwide for 5 years. He is a very active Chocolate Lab who has the run of two fenced acres since he was 8 weeks old. During that time we have always used the same Veterinarian, Early on she recommended we purchase Veterinarian Pet Insurance (now Nationwide). At first we were skeptical, "Pet Health Insurance"? Really?? But we took her advice and have been amazed at the service we have received from Nationwide. We have both the Base Premium and Wellness Endorsement for Luke and are happy that we purchase both. We have recommended Nationwide to friends who have all been equally happy with the service received. It is also very comforting to be able to call a veterinarian anytime, 24 hours a day to get emergency guidance on issues with your pet when your regular Vet is closed. The ease of filing claims is exceptional, I wish it were so easy for our 'people' health insurance. And the handling of the claim is fast, fair, and accurate. Luke will have Nationwide throughout his life.

First time insurance!
This is the first dog that I have purchased insurance for....and since I'm retired, savings is important. Bella had an eardrum infection, another first. I took 3 wees to recover! Thank goodness I purchased insurance. Thanks Nationwide! I only have one issue.....Bella's name was changed and the insurance still has the old name, Sarabella. Please change her name!

Giving peace of mind after a “Big C” diagnosis
Having Nationwide cover Coda for major medical has given us peace of mind when dealing with the costs of making sure we can stop her cancer before it spreads. It has been easy to make treatment decisions knowing how quickly and easy it is to get claims paid for the cost of her treatment. Thank you Nationwide!!!!

Been great so far
I was a little confused about the claims process but nationwide was easy to contact through email. They helped me file the claims and get reimbursed for my puppies care. So far it has been worth the investment. It's nice to not worry about large vet bills when it comes to my dogs health and well being. Claims usually process in 30 days or less. You still have to pay your vet out of pocket for the bill but nationwide really did reimburse %90 of it. There are preexisting conditions that are not covered so you need to research into that for your dog's breed.

Disappointed claims are not paid in full
My dog just had surgery and I was extremely disappointed his surgery was not reimbursed in full. We were told we hit our limit for this injury. Therefore, we are concerned his future x rays, tests, and visits won’t be covered. Lots of limitations on this insurance that are not fully explained.

It’s very easy to use and gives me peace of mind that that we won’t have to make cost decisions around our dog.
The insurance is well worth the cost, the claims are very easy to submit and I’ve had good claim turnaround. The key part of the insurance is that it removes the worry of having to make a decision to not treat your pet due to cost.

Nationwide insurance claims
Nationwide (VPI) has provided good insurance coverage to our 3 dogs for over 10 years. I would like to share my opinion that your claim process could be improved by showing for EVERY amount not paid the reason why. That way, I wouldn’t have to call and ask. There are some z codes and explanations provided, but not always - I’ve had some big amounts not paid with no reason provided. Also, consider why doctor notes must be submitted for routine wellness. Also, consider raising the amount covered for dental - $100 is way too low based on what vets charge.

RAISED RATES
ASPCA was recommended by my vet a year ago. This past year our payment was $60 a month and we never needed take our dog to the vet but my policy increased $30 a month without any notice. When I called ASPCA to find out why my premium went up to $90 there excuse was my dog is "older". I took that as I'm being punished for having a healthy dog. Like car insurance I could see if I've put in several claims that would force my payment to increase. So my question to ASPCA was if my dog is 7 now and lives till hes 15 how much are you expecting me to pay after your yearly increases. My calculations come to $520+ a month when my dog turns 15. The catch is you can't insure your pet after 7yr old. The greed this insurance company dumps on consumers is disgusting. Again if I've put in zero claims, have a healthy pet I don't understand how you justify an increase. Please be aware your first year payments are NOT a fixed rate even if you've put in zero claims this insurance company will raise your rates after a year. Safe to say ASPCA doesn't care about pets it's all about the MONEY. I'd rather deal with car or home insurance at least there's fairness to there increases, you won't get punished for driving an old car. Here I'm trying do right by my dog and I'm getting screwed for it.
