Making tough decisions easy!
Bought healthy paws insurance when my dog was about 6 years old and healthy. Fast forward 2 years, she has a torn ligament in her leg and requires shockwave therapy, a brace, laser therapy, etc... a total "package" of $2500. this was my first claim with healthy paws and I was a bit nervous about them finding some loophole. Next thing I know, I get a variety of checks (and still coming in!) totaling 80% of the total out of pocket costs of her treatments. Could not be happier!

Saving MacDuff's Life
MacDuff was totally listless, not eating, up-chucking, and exhausted from several hours of diarrhea. we visited our regular Vet who, after treating him and tentatively diagnosing him with pancreatitis, recommended the more medically equipped Emergency Vet Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. Where they confirmed our Vet's diagnosis and kept him overnight, tr=eating him extensively. All of which was way, way beyond our budget, but not beyond our love for him. Thank heavens we had your Trupanion policy. Without you, we could not have afforded to have him treated and feel your financial backing truly saved MacDuff's Life. Thank you, JR and Sharon Arthur

Nationwide has been supportive in the care and treatment of my pets.
I love Nationwide. They have really assisted with me in the past and now currently with my beloved cats. Multiple tests and vet visits when your pet is ill can really add up to a large bill ever so quickly! Insurance really takes the sting out that large bill. The only knock I would give would be to having Fax in the paperwork. I wish it could be sent electronically as not everyone has a fax machine.

Questionable business practices
I cancelled a policy with Trupanion, only to have them bill me for two months after the cancellation was received. I did not have an active account with Trupanion at the time. Trupanion went into an inactive account, where my billing information had been kept, and billed me without authorization. Only when I questioned, and emailed several times, did they respond and issue a partial refund. They pro-rated my refund - when they didn't even have authorization in the first place, and pro-rated a refund on a cancelled policy! I have other pet lover friends that are with Trupanion and have mentioned to me lately that they are not the company they used to be. It's extremely disappointing.

Don’t expect much back
Out of 4 claims, only one has paid ANYTHING back, and it was only a fraction of the costs. The first two were two separate claims that AKC claimed was a “pre-existing condition” even though it was an acute illness and then immediately another one with different symptoms. Even after a letter from the vet and full cooperation during the appeal process, they still kept the original decision. Exceedingly frustrated.

Nationwide is On Your Side!
Nationwide Pet Insurance has been fabulous to work with from the initial questions we had, to applying for a policy, to paying claims. The insurance is a good value especially if you start it when you initially get your puppy. It is amazing how fast the vet bills total up. You can submit a claim with your mobile device and Nationwide processes the claim very quickly.
