My Questions were answered and I felt like the agent understood my concerns issues like what was covered and what was not was explained clearly. However I was under the impression I had purchased individual policies when in fact it was 1 policy for 3 pets. I did not receive a written copy of the policy and at the time of purchase MetLife App had not been downloaded. I felt more of an effort should have been taken. All in all I am pleased with the service I have received from MetLife. I recommend this company to Family and Friends.

Because you told me I could chat with a vet and I couldn’t. You misrepresented what I get for my money. I tried four times to talk to a vet. I waited for hours. They when I called a representative I was told they are not always available. An honest company would not promise some the couldn’t provide. Your advertising is misleading and wrong

Submitting Claims
After submitting my initial claims they were delayed pending submitting the veterinarian notes and after submitting them I was then asked to submit the initial documents for my puppy then eventually I received a partial reimbursement after over a period of a month since I initially submitted my claims.. So l am just amazed and surprised why wasn’t I asked to submit everything from the very beginning to save me time. The overall process was so very lengthy without valid reason.

Honestly DONT DO IT!!!
Honestly, I could be brief and say “Screw Spot” but anybody who loves their pet deserves to know why Spot is a terrible company that does not deserve your money. You and your pet deserve better than their bullsh*t. We obtained pet insurance thinking it was the responsible thing to do. Our cats are our family and we want nothing but the best for them. After one of our kitties sustained an injury (tore her CCL) we were devastated, but we foolishly thought “at least we have pet insurance”. We submitted what should have been a straight forward claim with Spot. We have accident coverage, she had an accident, she should be covered, right? Instead, Spot denied the claim almost immediately, but not before altering the claim we actually filed - from the CCL tear to periodontal disease. We found that Spot had dug through our cat’s veterinary record to find any excuse they could to deny a claim and settled on that small note from several years ago. Never mind that periodontal disease is the #1 most common health condition in cats, never mind that it can be effectively and quickly treated, as it was in our case. Regardless, Spot claimed that this “preexisting condition” was enough basis to deny the claim. Spot, perhaps recognizing the flimsiness of their own excuse, also claimed that ligament deterioration is due to a common ailment in CANINES and that that was enough basis to deny the claim. I had to remind Spot that dogs and cats are two very different species and that we were not seeking coverage for a minor case of gingivitis, just the ADVERTISED COVERAGE for accidents. Spot spent several weeks mulling our appeal only to double down on their unwillingness to fulfill their end of the bargain. We have paid every bill on time, provided every piece of documentation asked for, and even got a letter from our veterinary surgeon, but spot still had their rejection letter ready to go. Spot’s unwillingness to actually cover their clients with valid claims is absurd, frustrating, and criminal. I am now left with a mountain of debt and profound sense of betrayal. Spot doesn’t care about you or your pet. They are predators who prey on one’s love of animals. They have mastered dodging phone calls, ignoring emails, fraudulently altering claims, and skirting contractual obligations. Know what they can’t do? Help you when you need it most. Do not give spot a single cent of your money. You’d be much better off keeping your $20/month in a high yield savings account, or even a coffee jar. To anyone at Spot who may be reading this: you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your greed and brazen lack of empathy have made an enemy for life whose singular goal in life is to steer as many people as possible away from your terrible “company”.

Bait and Switch once you change over.
My monthly premium is going up $70 PER MONTH and nobody has been able to tell me why. They beat my prior insurance company’s cost, only to raise it significantly higher than I had been paying. It sounds like they’re trying to punish members for using the policy. I had two claims on a multi-dog policy and my premium is nearly doubled.

My cat has had this insurance since we got him as a tiny kitty. We got it on a whim as our vet had a flyer he handed us. It has been the best thing for our family! Our little guy is now an old man with a new diabetes diagnosis. Trupanion has had our backs throughout the testing, medication and diet. They are available through chat even on the weekends and it is the kind of chat that gives you answers and does not continously loop you through a customer service AI bot! (Thank you Taylor!)
