Very Poor Company

MetLife denied my claim for vet recommended testing costing $2488 for my new rescue dog. MetLife sent me a short note saying my dog's issue was pre-existing based on notes prior to my taking in the rescue. I had received no information on the dog, purchased MetLife before my first vet visit but they found information from the previous owner's vet (that I did not have when I purchased the insurance) and refused my claim.

Will deny expensive claims

I rescued another dog in 2024. Received no information so purchased MetLife Pet Insurance before any vet visits. Visits went to my deductible. My vet received vet notes from prior owner and I submitted everything. My vet recommended tests for an issue that cost $2488. MetLife let me pay down on my deductible but when this would go into reimbursement, MetLife denied the claim saying "pre-existing". They can, and will, claim anything expensive as pre-existing in order to not pay out.

Pets Plus Us claim

Pet Plus Us insurance has been amazing to deal with for my dogs torn ACL treatment. The claims for treatment, including surgery, have been covered promptly and without question. The claims process is efficient, communication is clear and reimbursements are processed and deposited within a few days. The agents are friendly and knowledgeable and very compassionate. I would highly recommend this pet insurance company. 10/10

Claims denied over and over

It shows SPOT as #1 that is scary!!! Pet insurance - My experience with SPOT has been more effort than value! I'm hoping for better in the future or maybe a different company is better. You be the judge and what do you want to spend your time doing? tracking down appeals? They were so nice on the signup call and I elected for the premium "highest" plan and autopay monthly premiums. I understood things wouldn't be covered at 100%. I had no idea the leg work or if you get one visit a year and if an emergency comes up - every vet visit is denied. I pay the vet and send the vet bill in to create a claim. Claim gets denied. Rince and repeat. Never once has it been it easy. I don't spend this much time on my own medical insurance. I'll pay the stupid tax I've signed up for but not a fan. We have seen the vet only 4 times since I've started coverage, and my dog is 5 years old, thankful he's pretty healthy and I have gotten denial after denial. Told I'd have to appeal to have a claim reopened. Last claim was in December 2024 received email stating closed - denied - even though it was an emergency visit and all new things - not anything preexisting etc... $0 covered so its really hard to justify paying the monthly premium on top of the vet bill with $0% covered. Makes no sense. I've sent all records over 4 times; Vet sent all records over 3 times exactly as SPOT requested for them to be sent. Tried to call in a few times to customer service to figure out if I was doing something wrong - or needed to submit something different??? OR what hoops I'd need to jump through..... On hold on the phone with customer service for over 20 minutes and then they disconnected. What is your time worth?

Very Helpful

I was devastated to learn my bull mastiff pup of 2 years developed Valley Fever, a debilitating disease common in desert areas. The treatment is costly and long term, but with the proper care and medication, can be minimized and hold lung and bone damage to a minimum. It was so easy to file an insurance claim with Pets Best. They assigned an adjuster immediately who made contact with me and explained the terms of my policy. Their reimbursement program was prompt and really helped out during this time. Thanks to you all! Bear is doing pretty well

Disappointed

I am disappointed with Trupanion's service. I bought the insurance for my cat at beginning of 2024. I provoded all of her Vet record with their request. About 2 month ago, they emailed me requested the record during 04-2022 to 09-2023 otherwise they may affect my future claim, I email back stated that my cat was very healthy and I was busy with family issues so my cat did not go to any vet in that time. I requested them to confirm if this is OK for my cat to continue the insurance for future claims. I did not get response. I sent two more emails to follow up within 2 months however there is no any response! I am disappointed with they are keeping me pay monthly but do not provide the simple answer by 'Yes or No'.

Fantastic

This has been the best purchase as a pet owner I could have made. The first year it covered itself. My dog is 2 and recently had a bad experience. The bill was an unexpected $1700. Right after Christmas AND a needing a new oven. 😂. MetLife pays fast! Typically within 7 days. Their Customer Service is amazing and our fur babies have great care. I will always choose my pet over, well pretty much everything, but makes the stress less, especially when worrying about their care, that I can still play the mortgage after an unexpected vet bill!

This is a warning from a member with 4 pets over 10+ years

This is a warning from a member with 4 pets over 10+ years I have been a menber with Nationwide pet insurance when it used to be VPI pet insurance. I had a plan that was grandfathered in which was 90% covered with no CAP (this means no matter the treatment they covered the full cost) They tried to push me out by raising the cost the that plan year after year so I played ball with them and dropped it down to 70% covered with no CAP. They always stress to insure the animal since they were a puppy or kitten so everything can be covered through their life without any exempt. So this year they decided to write me that they are canceling my policy becuase the cost to them are too high to cover his plan even though they havent offered this plan in over 7 years and I was grandfathered in. I was told they will move me to the 70% plan and a 10k cap so if my animals had any thing serious over 10k i had to put the money up. Or other wise I can go kick rocks. Even though I have been paying over 10 years of premiums for 4 animals and they were so selfesh and could wait maybe another 5 years until all the grandfathered customer fur babies passed and crossed the rainbow bridge. Instead this $60.3 billion dollar in sales for 2024 company decided to be selfish and not cover and honor the pet plans they gave customers. Its really sad and disgusting that they used the phrase they are loosing money as an excuse to hurt theese animals. I will say over the past 10 years nationwide has been amazing with quick payouts and customer service. But that dose not fix how they handled this selfish situation.
