I signed up from this site and purposefully selected Pet's Best because it said they cover exam fees. When I clicked through to their site it did not give me any option to select additional coverage for exam fees, so I thought it was included. In fact, there was very little info on the policy itself provided until I paid. Then I got an email saying exam fees were not covered. So I called a couple of days later to add them and I was not permitted to because my dog had a vet visit during that time, even though that visit wasn't going to be covered anyway since it was during the waiting period. They did process my cancellation and refund quickly. I have since signed up with another provider and they allow changes up to 14 days after the policy is started. Also good to know this provide requires you to call them to make any policy changes, unlike others which have online options for customer service.

MONEY HUNGRY PET INSURANCE
I wouldn't even give this 1. I am absolutely appalled by this company’s predatory pricing and complete lack of empathy. My dog's premium just increased by almost $3,000, which is a staggering, unjustifiable jump. This is the second time they have done this to me. I already had to cancel the policy for my first pet because of their massive rate increases, and now I am being forced to cancel my second dog’s policy for the exact same reason. This pet insurance is absolute trash, and all they care about is money. When I called customer service to figure out how a $3,000 jump was even possible, the representative essentially admitted to a punishment system. I was told the increase was because my dog had been to the vet frequently, and they needed to raise the rates on their end to cover "future increases." Isn't the entire point of paying for pet insurance to have a safety net when your pet actually needs medical care? They are happy to take your monthly premiums when your pet is healthy, but the moment you actually utilize the policy you’ve been paying for, they will price you out of your plan to protect their own bottom line. I would never recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I would recommend literally any other provider besides them. Save your money, protect your pets, and avoid this company at all costs. Hopefully, warning others about how they treat repeat customers will make people think twice before signing up with them!

Very solid pet insurance
I’ve been with Healthy Paws for over a year and I can only say that it’s an exceptional service. They have been quick on reimbursements with typically 24 to 48 hours turnaround once they have the VET soap notes. This is a five star company - and it provides superb peace of mind for the Pet owner. There’s nothing scarier than having your pet present an issue that has never come up before. It would be nice if pets could talk, but having the peace of mind knowing that I have Healthy Paws Pet Insurance takes this sting out. Our little puppy is only 14 months old, but the policy has easily paid it for itself many times over, and Healthy Paws has earned not only our respect, but also the referrals of our friends and family.

Great coverage, horrible customer services reps
I love the coverage and the options to build a custom plan. However, their customer service reps are horrible and unemphatic. I called twice, the second rep was the worst. He claimed I called 4 times and just don't get it (I lost a pet and wanted her coverage terminated, and yes, he actually said I didn't get it). I called twice, he me being transferred as 2 calls, he made it sound like I was an idiot. On top of that he overused my name, making it sound like he was talking to a child. This was all over a dispute about premiums. Apparently, even if they have your premiums for the month, when a pet dies your policy is reworked and you have to pay the new premium RIGHT AWAY while you wait for your refund. Times are hard, I couldn't afford to do that. Finally, it came to light that I could call the day before my premium was to be withdrawn out of my account, they would update the policy and withdraw the new amount. Had the guy started with that when I told him I couldn't afford to pay right away, it would have avoided a lot of hassle. Instead I was treated like a child who just didn't understand anything. Saying they understand is meaningless when they treat you like you are a child. I am not 100% confident they will NOT withdraw my old premium as well. I also sent them an email last week, no response. It wasn't until after my call that suddenly they decided to answer. These are sales people, they don't care. They work on commission. The first guy didn't even tell me I had options to change my current coverage on my remaining pets, he just quoted me about $20 less then I am paying now. Thank you, Metlife, for making a traumatic situation even worse. Update - the Metlife response is a bot. It says the same thing to everyone across all platforms. Calling them caused the nightmare to begin with.

Murphy had a serious reaction to a vaccination which necessitated a trip to the urgent vet. The online claim process at Healthy Paws was simple to complete, they responded very quickly, and our policy helped defray a significant chunk of the bill. I'm very happy with Healthy Paws and heartily recommend them!

Terrible Pet Insurance Company
Very unaffordable after a couple of years. I cancelled them when they increased my policies over $1,000 in one year and they also didn't cover items they had previously covered. I believe that was due to people not being properly trained. One time I submitted a claim for medication and they said food was not a covered item. It was a medication they had previously covered many times. Terrible company.
