Claim experience
If you are looking for a pet insurance that offers great communication and the ease of filing a claim then Pets Best is a great choice. They made the process so easy and communicated with me regarding any delays in the claim process. They will reach out to your vet to get additional information if needed to process your claim as well. It is upsetting enough when your pet is ill and knowing that you will not have to fight with an insurance company to get your claim processed provides a bit of comfort in an otherwise stressful situation, I highly recommend Pets Best!!

Terrible pet insurance
I have had Pets Best insurance for a year. My dog tore his ACL so I got insurance then he tore the other ACL. Pets Best wouldn't cover surgery for his other leg because it was considered pre-existing even though it was the other leg. I know this is common with pet insurance, so that wasn't the issue for me, even though that's obviously seriously lame too. They also wouldn't cover any of the meds they had to give him to calm him down to take the xray, the meds they prescribed for the pain for tearing his ACL, or the medication I got him for his anxiety because the anxiety is considered pre-exiting too simply because he had been brought to a vet before I adopted him who noted that he exhibited anxious behavior. He's a chihuahua terrier mix, so duh he exhibited anxious behavior. And also, I just have to laugh that anxiety is even considered a "pre-existing" condition. So basically, pets best won't cover a single thing and 100% is not worth it.

Healthy Paws has been an absolute blessing! I’ve been using it for over 10 years now, and my 15-year-old Yorkie, Sake, has gone through several health issues over the years. Healthy Paws has always been there to support us every step of the way. They have covered everything as promised, and I can honestly say that this insurance has provided me with invaluable peace of mind. I highly recommend Healthy Paws 100% for anyone looking to protect their furry family members. I’m incredibly grateful for the care and coverage they’ve given Sake.

Choose Healthy Paws
I love Healthy Paws! Their insurance has saved my pocket book. Vet care is expensive and my dog has had a lot of health issues over the years. The claim process is so easy and quick using your smart phone. The reimbursement is 90% which is huge. Reimbursement turn around time is very quick. I highly recommend going with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance!
From Day 1, Pets Plus Us has been the best partner
We have been with Pets Plus Us for the past 9 years...ever since we brought our french bulldog puppy home. They have always been an amazing partner and we have had no issues with using them. Recently, our 9 year old, ended up in emergency care for swollowing a rawhide bone end. She was in the hospital for 24 hours, had it extracted, and subsequently on 7 days of medication. We submitted out claim the day we had the final receipt and we had our reimbursement back 8 days later. I could not possibly ask for a better experience. Thank you Pets Plus Us for always putting our family and loved one first!

Always exclusions for nothing
Any observation in the file becomes a medical condition and therefore an exclusion Pet plus Us put an exclusion on my file for any illness related to my cat's ears because her ears were "a little dirty" at her last appointment. Having slightly dirty ears is not an illness, I contested. My veterinarian has filled out an official statement stating that my cat's ears are "remarkably normal." Pet plus Us does not want to know anything and maintains its exclusion. In short, if your animal is not perfect, without any link to an illness, you will have exclusions. Does your pet have a runny eye? Exclusion for eye diseases. Has your pet gained a little weight? Exclusion for overweight and associated conditions. Is your pet losing more hair lately? Exclusion for skin conditions. Any OBSERVATION recorded in your animal's medical file becomes an exclusion. Be careful with this insurance company! They really don't inspire confidence in me. My 3 year old cat in perfect health (no illness in the past, no medication, nothing) has 3 exclusions! When I read the contract drawn up by Pet plus Us, you would swear that my cat is chronically ill: no coverage for the ears, any illness related to weight and any urinary system problem. All this because of "a little dirty" ears (but remarkably normal, as written by the veterinarian), 0.96 pounds overweight (large male of 5.96 kg) and a consultation because I was worried about his attitude after a change of sort of litter. My veterinarian himself doesn't understand at all. However, his statement is not considered at all.

Similar experience. Did you find another company that was easier to work with?
Poppy - Boston Terrier
My 7 1/2 year old Boston Terrier Poppy was diagnosed with a heart condition a few years ago and Trupanion has been so wonderful in assisting me by covering a good portion of her heart medication. As well, Poppy had a serious eye condition (corneal ulcer) in the Fall of 2023 where they also helped me by covering the expenses after the deductible. I appreciate their help so much.

Met Life is the best
I have had to do two claims now for my cat and both times they were very helpful, professional and courteous. I was able to get my claim in and processed very fast and when a small issue came up, I was able to call them and get it taken care of right away with the same great customer service that I have experienced with them before. They are very personable, and I have had nothing but great experiences with them. I am very happy to have MetLife as my pet insurance. I have recommended some of my friends to them also.
Be Aware, They may (DENY), Erin Brockovich your claim
Healthy Paws is not comprehensive nor does it really cover your dog. If your dog has ever had an allergic reaction or skin irritation in the past they will deny the claim. I submitted a claim when he developed a rash after swimming in the bay. He kept scratching which created infection. It went away after treatment with antibiotics, medicated baths and a cortisone injection. It turned out my wife and I had the same itch and bites after swimming in the bay with him. After researching I found its called swimmers itch which is generally caused by nymph jellyfish, crab bacteria and a few others which could be in the water. They denied coverage saying he had a skin allergy in the past. Like the movie Erin Brockovitch there response is deny, deny, deny. Find a more reputable company.

John - We're sorry for any frustration during the processing of your claim. Based upon your communications with our team, an appeal was created. Our team had the appeal review case expedited for you. That appeal claim was covered and applied toward the annual deductible. You should receive a separate email with your Explanation of Benefits noting coverage.
