I hadn't needed to make a claim in the 8.
I hadn't needed to make a claim in the 8.5 years that I had been paying into Trupanion pet insurance, but when I did, it turned out to be as easy as I hoped it would be. I hadn't set up an account (where payment received would have been even faster), but I still received a cheque back within days. Immediately after submitting my claim, I got an email back that you were on it, and then quickly got confirmation that the claim had been approved once you were in contact with the emergency vet clinic that I had gone to. It was a painless process, and reconfirmed why, as a retired veterinarian myself, I always recommended Trupanion to my clients. In my mind right from the beginning along time ago, I believed that Trupanion separated themselves from other pet insurance companies in what they covered and what their policies were. I still believe that today :-))

Feeling blessed to have Trupanion!
I have to say that Trupanion is the best. They really have taken care of my dog and communicated closely with my veterinarian and our claim was handled in a very timely manner. Thanks Trupanion ??

First experience unsatisfactory.
I will need more information about my policy to determine whether I will be cancelling it in the near future. A Recovery and Complementary Care Rider wasn't discussed when I signed up and I will reach out to find out what it is. My Bayview claim of June 20th was denied because approximately four days after we adopted Oliver from the shelter (he was anxious when we got him) and he had spent those first four days living behind an entertainment unit only a few inches wide, he presented the symptoms described by the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital. There was no cause determined and my strong opinion is that is reasonable to assume these symptoms were stress-related. He is an anxious cat. I don't consider vomiting, lethargic behaviour, diarrhea and frequent urination (Oliver drank a lot when he finally came out from behind the entertainment unit and was exhausted from the stress of the move) conditions, rather they are symptoms and in his case I would say they are stress-related. We had extensive testing done to rule out medical problems so if anything that should have given Oliver a clean health record.
