I recently adopted a rescue dog that is part Australian Shepherd and part Corgi. I was concerned that her short legs could easily get broken as she loves to run and jump. This prompted me to purchase pet insurance. I heard about VPI on the Rachel Ray show and decided to give it a try. I purchased the major medical plan (a little more expensive, but more comprehensive), but I was very skeptical that I would ever get money back if I put in a claim. Soon after purhasing the policy my dog came down with a urinary tract infection. The treatment was expensive, but I was surprised to find that I got more than half of the money back from VPI. My poor dog also got attacked by a neighbor's unsecured dog. The vet bill from this was fully covered by VPI. My policy has already paid for itself this year. More importantly I now have the peace of mind of knowing that I can give my dog the best medical care she needs. It is a wonderful feeling!
