I initially purchased pet insurance, because I didn't want to have to make any life or death decisions based on money. We got our dog from a shelter 10 years ago. In her second year, she tore her ACL. We had that repaired. In her third year, she tore her other ACL. Another surgery. Being a lab, she has also her her share of emergency visits caused by different things that she has eaten, one of which ended in another surgery. VPI has covered at least half of everything we have been through. I have never had any problems, and I am very glad that I made that decision, way back when, to purchase a plan for our fuzzy little friend.
