We adopted a shelter puppy and they gave us the coupon for adoption insurance through Petfirst which was only $5 for the first month so we signed up to try it out and were told the insurance was effective at midnight which was special only for shelter animals. 3 days lated we were at the vet because our puppy was so lathargic she couldn't even stand up to eat and drink. Turns out she had a severe upper reseratory infection and they put her on antibiotics. 2 weeks later she was more active but developed a bad cough and we took her back to the vet and they put her on more antibiotics. a week later she still isn't better and the vet took xrays and turns out she had Pneumonia. it was suggested to us to take her back to the shelter but the whole family had fallen in love with her. She was already one of our children but thankfully she is getting better and Petfirst reimbursed almost $500 of the vet bills. We are now upgrading to put both our dogs on a better plan. I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't signed up for the insurance!!!!
