I have 2 dogs and with both I'm submitted minor claims here and there. But recently my old dog was diagnosed with Lymphoma :( The vet bills were $3100. I was reimbursed $2356 of the total bill. I have the premium plan with the double cancer benefits. For this claim is was worth having the insurance. The they told me I still have $254 left in allowances towards any other tests my dog may need. Looking the benefits schedule, I was at first concerned. I do often wonder if I'm better off taking the monthly premium and putting it into an emergency pet savings account. I calculated out that if I had did that I would have had over $3000 over the 9 years. Granted this approach you hope nothing happens to a younger dog before the account has some funds in it.
