VPI is a must for pet owners, highly recommend

I have had VPI for a couple years now to cover my dog. I had never used pet insurance prior to this with my prior pets, but decided to do so after my in-laws recommended it after treating a long and expensive chronic condition with their cat when they did not have insurance. I couldn't be happier that I did get insurance. I had wanted the plan to be there to cover an emergency or an unforseen chronic condition or disease. I am so glad we did get it, since about 4 months ago my dog suffered a ruptured cervical disk while playing with another dog. This required an ER vet visit, MRI, medication and finally spine surgery. The total bills were about $7000 by the end of it. VPI came through wonderfully, and covered over $6000 of it which was better than most human health care plans would cover! Knowing that we had the insurance made the choice to get our dog healthy again a non-decision, we did not have to choose getting our beloved dog better at the expense of a huge financial burden. He is now 100% better, we did not get too much of a bill thanks to VPI and we could not be happier. We are huge proponents for VPI now and recommend it to all our family and friends that have pets. I would make sure you really read what the coverages are in the plans before making a decision, they are all very clearly outlined. I think some of the negative company reviews are unfair since people had basic coverage, and then are upset that they got reimbursed at the agreed upon level,
