Buyer Beware

For the most part, PetsBest was pretty prompt in acknowledging receipt of claims and issuing checks. However, the policy lists $200 as the max it would pay for euthanasia. When I submitted a claim, I was told that euthanasia is considered a "new event" and therefore subject to a deductible. I find that so ridiculous that I immediately cancelled all policies and will go with another company.

Hi Susan, we were very sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. Pets Best Insurance is one of the few companies that offers mortality benefits at no extra charge, including coverage for euthanasia, cremation and burial. Because this additional benefit is separate from the regular illness coverage of our plans, mortality claims are treated as a separate incident. The details of our plans can be seen online at http://www.petsbest.com/plans/default.aspx.

It is deceiving since they do list euthansia as a $200 benefit but like all of the pet insurances you really have to read EVERYTHING which is a shame.
