Don't Be Fooled

Embrace does a really great job of following up with you to make sure you get everything in they need to get you started filing claims.
Sounds great right?!?!

Too bad they will not cover anything that could REMOTELY relate to any treatment given to your pet prior to your policy with them.

So, if your pet has taken an allergy pill before they will not cover any subsequent allergy problems. Don't fall for it like I did!

I completely agree. Please be careful. They're very nice when you sign up...very nice. It sucks you right in. They're not paying claims in an honest and ethical manner; so you can't completely count on this as "insurance." Please check out my experience below.

Sounds like your pet had a pre-exisiting condition which is NEVER covered under any policies. Otherwise insurance companies would go out of business paying claims for pet owners who waited until their pet was sick to purchase insurance. Seems like you are blaming the wrong person. You should be blaming yourself for not getting pet insurance earlier.

I understand the pre-existing conditions logic but just because your pet has had a certain allergy in the past, does this mean you can't claim any future allergies, regardless of the causes? Aren't all pets prone to allergies? Same goes with a pet breaking a leg for example. Just because my dog has broken her leg in the past, does this mean future instances will not be covered?

I would agree with Joan....and no -- I don't work for the company.

"...they will not cover anything that could REMOTELY relate to any treatment given to your pet prior to your policy with them. ...if your pet has taken an allergy pill before they will not cover any subsequent allergy problems."

This comment just has 'pre-existing condition' written all over it.

It's right on the website:
http://www.embracepetinsurance.com/coverage/pre-ex-conditions.aspx
So, did you have the company conduct a Medical History Review just to be on the safe side?
http://www.embracepetinsurance.com/after-you-enroll/medical-history-review.aspx

Now, if the condition was covered at the time of the Review and they're just refusing to cover the dog for whatever reason...then yeah, I'd agree with you. Fight them and get your money.

However, if this isn't the case and you didn't even bother to get a Review then I'd say that you are indeed blaming the wrong person.
...and I don't think it's just to slam a company b/c you failed to practice due diligence.

I totally agree with Maliah, this clearly was a pre-existing condition, which they are very clear in that they do not cover. Embrace clearly states what is and what is not a pre-existing condition. It is the consumers responsibility to read what is and what is not covered. Jeff, dont blame someone else for your mistake!
