A few months ago, upon returning home from a walk, one of our dogs was walking like he was drunk. When I picked him up, he was limp in our arms and his eyes were glazed. We rushed him to the vet, who was concerned about possible neurological problems. He could not find any and blood tests were also normal. He did an x-ray of our dog's stomach and reported seeing a "woody" substance. He induced vomiting and found out, from the scent, that our dog had ingested marijuana! There are no less than 4 marijuana clinics in our neighborhood, 2 are around the corner! Who knew? Anyway, our bill came to $900 and VPI paid about $230! We disputed it, but we were told that they only pay for the actual diagnosis, so they didn't cover the neurological or other tests which were not directly related to what was actually wrong with him. But it looked like he was having a stroke, so how was anyone to know this? We are very disappointed. We have had this same insurance and paid out lots of money in premiums, going to pet clinics to get low cost vaccinations, rarely submitting any claims.
