Even though there are deductibles and percentages taken out of the actual cost of the vet, my policy has paid for itself, since I've had it. In the past I was out the entire costs for my loved animals. I don't have kids, so I will spare no expense for my animals. At least now I get a portion back. It is better than nothing. I haven't really had a problem with VIP, because they are always nice on the phone to me and I read my policy throroughly before I submit a claim. My boyfriend and I both researched several insurance companies. I do a combination of a base care plan with my regular vet and VIP for emergencies. It works the best for us, but I think the real solution is to make vetrinarian care tax deductable. Then maybe people wouldn't abuse and negelect animals so much.
