I have a 7 year old yellow lab. We have been insured with VPI since he was 4. My dog has, unfortunately, had to have a total of 7 surgeries over his short life, for foreign body removal. He has also had one surgery on his shoulder for what we originally thought was malignant cancer. Turns out it was not, thankfully! VPI has always processed my claims in a very timely manner. The only problem that I have had was with the cancer scare. They were not going to process his claim, but after having my vet/pathologist notes sent to VPI, we were reimbursed. I am a single girl with a good job and without VPI coverage, I don't think I would have had a roof over my head in the last year. I have spent an astronomical amount of money on my sweet dog. Some may say that it is foolish, but he is like my child. My opinion of pet insurance companies may be different if my dog only had small-to-no issues, but that, unfortunately, is not the case. But isn't that what any insurance is for, so we can sleep better at night? I highly recommend VPI as an upstanding company. My experience has been great!
