First the cons. When I first started with VPI seven years ago I was told that my premium would never increase. When my first cat turned 5 my premium increased so I called to find out why. I was told it was a one time increase due to age and it would never happen again. The following year, my policy increased again, and again I called to find out why at which point I was told without apology that this would be annual and I have had subsequent increases ever since. I'm wondering at what point the policy will no longer be cost effective. The reimbursement schedule is inadequate and not in keeping with the true cost of vetrinary care. The pros. I keep my policy because I have a cat with ongoing health issues and it ultimately pays for itself. I recommend VPI above other pet health insurance because it is the best of what amounts to a mountain of poor choices in veterinary health care. I am rarely denied a claim and am always paid in a timely manner. Filing a claim couldn't be easier, just fax the claim and go, no need for the verterinarian to get involved. Customer service is exemplary and there is always someone available to assist.
