My Golden Retriever has been covered with VPI since he was three. There have been numerous incidents where VPI has limited the payments because of their payment schedule. In 2009 he had laryangeal paralysis. The bill was over $6,000 because he was in an oxygen chamber for 3 days and had a number of tests. VPI paid out just over $1,100, and that amount was distributed between two vets and a second diagnosis. When he was 3, Teddy fell off a dogwalk during agility and was lame in one leg. VPI refused to pay anything because the vet said he had arthritis in his knee.
