I have been with PetPlan for about 5 yrs now. I have 3 Cocker Spaniels under PerPlan insurance. My 5 yr old was diagnosed with Invertebrae Disc Disease a little over 2 yrs ago. She ended up having 3 back surgeries within a 2 yr period on different levels on her back and also went through physical and pool therapy. This alone amounted to over $10,000 and PetPlan came to the rescue. Filing the claim was a breeze. The customer service is outstanding in providing assistance in filing the claim and reimbursement. I was afraid we would be dropped from the plan due to these claims, but we weren't. About 1 yr ago my Cocker Spaniel "Lelani" was vomiting mainly at night. I took her to the vet several times had various blood work done and stomach xrays and nothing was found. So this went on for several months. Went again and more blood work was done and a chest xray. At that time she was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. I requested from my primary vet to be sent to a specialist to see what could have causeed this and if treatment was available. Upon physical exam the specialist noticed that something else was going on. They performed specific blood work to determine if she had Addisons Disease or Myasthenia Gravis (MG). The MG test was sent overnight to San Diego Medical Hospital in California since that is the only place that can process the blood work. Within 48 hrs the results were in. My Lelani was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and Megaesophagus. Broke my heat to hear she had overcome 3 back surgeries now this. The good thing was the neurologist stated that there was medication for the condition and there is a good chance she can beat the Myasthenia Gravis but it would take anywhere from 6 -18 months, but the percentage for the megaesophagus was very low. Lelani would need to be placed into a special chair, to keep her sitting straight up to be feed and kept there for 30 min after she eats and her food had to be soft and grinded up and special medication that was pricey. The 2 medications she takes twice a day runs anywhere from $300 - $400 for a 30 day supply. We were fortunate enough to have a friend who built us a bailey chair which has been great. Because these chairs have to be made by measurements of your pet and can only be ordered on-line anywhere from $200 up or built yourself. Lelani has been on medication for over 6 months now and is being spoon feed in her bailey chair. She has improved tremendously. She is still on medication and
