Significant Price increases year after year

I purchased insurance from Pet Plan (gopetplan.com)for my Boston terrier shortly before he turned 2 years old. My BT is now 5 years old and has had two incidents (tooth extraction and gastrointestinal issues) for which the pet insurance really helped to cover the costs. The process for submitting the claims was very easy and I received my claim reimbursement fairly soon after submitting a claim (I think it was 10 business days). The only drawback with PetPlan is that they significantly increase our premium year after year! Last year, they increased it from $40/month to $60/month. I called their Customer Service line and asked if the increase was due to the incidents our dog had and was ensured that the premiums are not based on experiential ratings. I just received a renewal document from them and found that they are going to increase his premium another $20 per month! He didn't have any incidents last year, so I guess the premiums aren't based on experience - they just arbitrarily raise their premiums. Needless to say, I will be looking for coverage with another company.

Yes, I had a 33% raise in premiums with Pet Plan after just one year with no claims, on a mixed-breed THREE-year old dog!I'm glad I found out early that by year 10 I would be paying $3,318. I will drop them now and find another company, and I will tell the 4 people I referred recently to PetPlan not to sign up with them after all.
