As others have mentioned, pet insurance is a significant investment, but with 4 young rescue dogs, we simply couldn't take the risk that one or more of them would develop major health problems. We have the bronze plan, and we pay about $850 per year for all 4 dogs, plus a $200 deductable per condition. Two of the dogs have nearly perfect health, but the insurance has paid off significantly for the other two.
Honey, in particular had a very rough start in life, and she has had significant health issues. Since getting the insurance, she has developed thyroid disease, and has ruptured both of her cruciate ligaments. Each time the surgery and rehabilitation have cost well over $4000. On both occasions, PetPlan has paid everything except the $200, and the claims process is hassle-free.
I don't know what we would have done if we didn't have this pet insurance...and their customer service is the best. Every person I have ever spoken with is compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. I would recommend them to any pet owner -- especially those with more than one pet in their household. The likelihood of major expenses definitely goes up with each fur-kid!!
