We took out pet insurance because we didn't want to have to worry how we would pay for any unexpected illness or injury and we are very glad that we did. Our pup started throwing up one morning and it contained lots of blood. Without a thought we took her to out vet where she was admitted for the day, re hydrated and treated. The final bill was nearly $900! Ouch! I submitted the claim via e-mail and it was promptly entered into their system (traceable online and with e-mail updates from them as to the progress). The only real delay in all this was with out vet sending the medical records to Pet Plan and there was some confusion when PetPlan opened another claim for a separate illness our dog suffered during the 2 week wait period at the start of the policy. Illnesses in this time are not covered so we had never claimed it. I was not about to commit fraud so I asked them to close it down, which they did, but it goes to show that they are not shy about processing a claim. We received a check for the full amount minus our $50 deductible (we opted for a 100% reimbursement policy) within a few weeks. When I spoke to them on the phone they were friendly and courteous and explained what was still outstanding to process the claim. I can't recommend them enough, especially considering their coverage is among the most comprehensive out there and at a very good price. A+, 5 star etc etc.
