Do not sign up with PetCare. This company will take your money, but find every shady way possible to not pay out your claims. I used them for years, but the problems seemed to start when they partnered with 24 Pet Watch (so I'd be weary of them too). Their phone representatives are also extremely rude when you call so be prepared to be treated poorly as well. I was woken up by my Boston Terrier having a seizure (his first one...he had no history of them) in the middle of the night. I had to rush him to VetEmerg. After assessing him, they informed me that he also had developed a heart murmur. They wanted to keep him overnight to watch him, but also do a series of tests to determine the cause of the seizure. A blood test was performed to check if he had gotten into something or there were liver or kidney issues. An ultrasound of his heart to see if he had what was called "Syncopy".....lack of oxygen to his brain due to an arrhythmia. This bill was over $1400 but of course, a person thinks they are fine because they have insurance.
Well when I submitted my claim, they denied any of the items to do with the heart stating it was "pre-existing". I was paid far less than half of the claim itself. Which was a surprise to me considering up to this point his heart was listed as healthy on every exam he had (which I have copies of). ONE exam in 2015 apparently listed that he a slower heart rate that day. THAT was what they deemed to be "pre-existing".
