Getting PetPlan insurance has been one of the best decisions I ever made when I got my first bulldog (I now have two), and I tell everyone that ever talks to me about wanting a bulldog that they need to do the same if they ever get one (since they are so prone to health issues, you owe it to the dog to be able to cover them IMO).
I got PetPlan the same day I brought home Thor at 8 weeks old. At about 10 months old, he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in both hips. He has since had both hips replaced (at about $7K each), had his "eyes done" (corrective eyelid surgery for entropion), and some other things here and there. All covered by PetPlan.
I have a second bulldog (a year and a half younger than Thor) who is the exact opposite of Thor - perfectly healthy, with hips like springs, no entropion, no health issues at all. Yet this is the dog that's had to go to the ER twice for accidents/incidents. Again, covered by Pet Plan. So in my mind, totally worth it.
I feel like it's good to have that peace of mind that if a major expense comes up that I can put in an insurance claim and not be hit by a major bill. And filing the Pet Plan claims has always been very easy, which I appreciate in this day and age!
