Received the insurance from a cat at the humane society. Within 2 weeks, he became very sick and had to be put down. didn't receive a penny, as they listed FIV as a "pre existing condition" sort of thing. I lost my new friend, and have a bill over 400. The rude associate on the phone basically told me I "shouldn't have bought a sick cat". Very dissatisfied.

Maybe your issues should be with the shelter you adopted a sick pet from. No car insurance company would cover a pre-existing accident so why would a pet insurance company cover an already sick animal? It's common sense.

So you result in putting blame on the insurance company? They didn't adopt you a sick pet my friend. No insurance would cover a pre-existing condition.

I have adopted a cat and a two dogs from Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and had the 30-day gift each time. First dog I adopted pulled a muscle, which wasn't covered because it's not listed on the plan. My second puppy had parvo, which was covered up to the $750 max, because it was stated on the plan. FIV wasn't listed on the plan for cats.. so if it's not there -- and it's clearly stated-- why would you be mad they're not covering it? From the sounds of it, you never even bought insurance. You're complaining that something free didn't pay your bills.
