Absolutely worth it - exotic pet owner

I had VPI's exotic/avian plan for my lionhead rabbit. I paid $12/month for the plan, which covered only emergency/non-routine care. I never had to use it until last month, when he was first diagnosed with a hormonal condition and then, a week or so later, died very unexpectedly of heart failure. VPI reimbursed me to the full amount they were able on both bills. My claims were processed and approved within a week each time, and I received the checks no later than 5 days after the date of approval. The submission process was extremely easy - I just emailed them in - and their customer service reps were incredibly patient, kind, sympathetic and understanding. I am beyond grateful for their service, as I was able to treat my bunny and make decisions about his health without having to weigh the cost. My total bills were $465. I will end up paying about $140 out of pocket, and $80 of that is the cost of private cremation (they do cover some after-life expenses, but it's a flat rate. Had I chosen another option, my out-of-pocket costs would be about $60.) I cannot recommend them highly enough. I put cat because it won't let me select rabbit. Y'all should fix that.
