My basset hound Duke suddenly was acting like he didn't feel well and was in pain, pacing and restlessness. My first thought was bloat so I gave him a gas-x. He seemed to feel some better and lay down but later during the night he was acting in pain again. The next day I took him to the vet. His stomach was so tight the vet couldn't even feel his organs for an exam. He had an xray and bloodwork; the xray came back okay but the bloodwork showed pancreatitus. Duke was put on pain meds and sent home with orders for me to watch him. He was very quiet and I could tell he didn't feel well when he wasn't stealing anything (the boy is a thief). But a couple days later, Duke was feeling much better and back to stealing things and playing with his sister Gracie. I submitted a claim for reimbursement. This was the first; I've only had Duke since December. The vet gave me his records and the only trouble I had was sending the 36 pages but when I called Healthy Paws, I got great advice on how to do it and they even were going to hold on the line while I sent it to make sure it went through but my phone hung up on me. I did it on my own as instructed and received an email the next morning that it was received and it would take up to 10 days but by the time I got home from work and checked my email there was another email that my claim had been processed. I was given a detail of what was covered and the amount I would receive. Within 3 days I received my check.
