Our dog Mikey, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, had broken 2 teeth from chewing on meat bones. We chose to have his dental work done by a dental specialist, who, during the procedure, found many teeth by x-ray that hadn't "come in." She was able to repair his dental problems, but we were left with over $2000 in charges. VPI paid everything except a small deductible and the charges for routine cleaning under anesthesia, which is not a benefit in our chosen plan. It was a relief that VPI's allowed rates were high enough to cover the specialist charges. VPI representative gave accurate information about estimated payments before the procedure, and paid us over $1700 promptly after receiving the medical records.
