Nice savings, not enough participating vets

I have had Pet Assure for about six months now and have used it three times. One feature that makes it valuable is not having to worry about pre-existing conditions. I also like that it applies to all five of our animals under one plan, and without a deductible. Not having to file claims or worry about having them denied is also a huge plus. Our female dog has diabetes, so our biggest vet expenses involve her care. This week we took her in because she had started to have seizures. In two hours at the vet she racked up a $400+ bill, which was immediately reduced to $310. This is still huge but not as bad as it could have been. The prescribed treatment plan will run another $500+ so we will save $125 if we do everything indicated. While the quality of care at the participating vet we use is very high, so are their costs. The other two vets listed in our area as participating either have very limited hours or do not seem to have much experience with the Pet Assure company. They had a difficult time figuring out what services of theirs would be covered. If you are considering Pet Assure, as with any product, do your homework before you buy, to be sure you like the participating vet(s) in your area, and that your pets will receive quality care at a price you can afford. The discount really helps, but many vets, even good ones, will charge you for every tiny thing without considering your financial situation. A 25% discount won't make up for overtreatment costs

Exactly why should any business consider your financial situation? If you buy a box of chew toys they cost the business the same regardless of your situation.
