Wonderful Pet Insurance - Petplan!

We previously had an insurance policy with VPI for our Cocker Spaniel, Molly, who developed lymphoma. Because we had the cancer rider we were reimbused at a greater rate. However, due to complications from the disease, our costs sky rocketed to about $11,000. VPI reimbursed the maximum of $3,500 leaving us with an out-of-pocket expense of $7,500. Sadly we lost our Molly to the disease in December. We since have adopted 2 dogs - Sake, just 1 year old and a Portuguese Water Dog named Cabo who is 8 months old. Yes, we are very busy!! During my many visits to the vet for chemotherapy I heard about Petplan from someone who had adopted a dog that required spinal surgery for cancer and she raved about it. Knowing costs for veterinary care can be expensive, and understanding owning pets is a commitment that requires a lifetime of the best medical care I looked into Petplan and signed up both our pets. Monthly cost for both - approximately $100 and well worth it! I figured since they were young I wouldn't have to submit any claims. That was NOT the case. Sake developed repeated episodes of gastritis - one so serious she needed to be hospitalized overnight. Without Petplan our costs would have come close to $2,000. Petplan has been a life-saver! We submitted the first claim - received reimbursement for exactly what was stated in the policy.
