I've been with Pet Plan for over a year now after using other insurance companies in the past. I am amazed at how easy it is to file a claim and to get a check in the mail. I typically have a check in my hands one week after submitting the claim. My vet is also surprised at how little paperwork is required of her. Also, they cover more of each claim than the other insurance companies that I've had in the past.
The reason I chose Pet Plan because I had already paid for one TPLO surgery for my dog and I was worried that if anything happened to the other leg it would be too much for me to pay. Sure enough, last month she injured the other leg and needed the surgery. Pet Plan was great about getting me reimbursed quickly.
I did have one problem earlier this fall with Pet Plan where they denied my claim due to a pre-existing condition. My dog never had problems with that leg though! I called Pet Plan and the girl who I spoke with was completely not helpful and in fact, argumentative with me. She finally transferred me to a Claims Specialist who calmly explained to me why the claim was denied. It turns out there was a mistake in my vet's notes so Pet Plan was right in denying the claim. I worked with my vet to amend the record and file an appeal which Pet Plan said could take 2-4 weeks to review. Within two weeks my claims were approved and I had a check.
