Is VPI pet insurance worth buying?

Out of 10

We looked into pet insurance with Veterinary Pet Insurance Company (VPI) 2 years ago and insured all 4 of our dogs, which cost $5700 over the next two years. During this time, we had $14,150 in veterinary bills (neutering, dental extractions, two rattlesnake bites, an acute cervical disc extrusion). We were reimbursed $1,633.00 for the cost of veterinary care and disputing claims denials did no good. I conclude that pet insurance is only a good deal for the VPI Pet Insurance company.
