I've had VPI Pet Insurance since 4/2007, when Hunter was 4 months old. I had picked up a brochure at my vet at the time, VCA Animal Hospital, now located in Lakewood, Ca. Due to a very unhappy experience with my previous Choc Lab, I knew how costly an emergency surgery could run. It was several thousand dollars and my Coco did not survive. In Oct 2008, Hunter had to have a TPLO surgery and another in Feb 2011. In 2008 I was still in California and in Feb 2011 I was in Iowa. Since VPI is pretty much all over, I was lucky to have the VPI insuranace. VPI only pays a portion of the cost, but it certainly lessens the blow. I am lucky that I can afford pet insurance and car insurance, etc. I always hope I will not have to use it, but accidents happen and pets do get sick from time to time. Hunter is now doing great and he is very spoiled. We are now taking care to protect his joints and watching his weight. Thank you VPI for being there and always being concerned with Hunter's well being.
