Worth Every Penny

If I paid my monthly pet insurance premium for my dog's entire life and he never had an injury or illness, it would still be worth it for peace of mind. Unfortunately, we have encountered injuries, and peace of mind expanded into tangible benefits. Healthy Paws has been consistently responsive and helpful through our many claims. The process of submitting a claim for reimbursement is easy and the reimbursements have been prompt. Our dogs are part of our family and I knew if anything ever happened I would feel compelled to do whatever it takes to get them healthy. "Whatever it takes" with veterinary care is often costly and stressful. Being able to take the financial worry out of the equation so you can focus on caring for your pet is invaluable.

So far, this is an outstanding company to deal with.

I could make this a long review detailing all the medical care needed and bills my 6.5 y/o sweet mixed terrier has accumulated but to keep it as short as possible: 1. It is extremely easy to submit a claim i.e. using the app, simply take a picture of the invoice and submit it-that’s it! 2. I have had them send messages requesting further information (maybe for the bill that was over 2,000.00 etc) and I asked them to contact the provider as I really didn’t have all the documentation that they needed. 3. I was frequently updated on the status of my claim and it has never taken long for the claim to be completed. Most importantly, from an emotional standpoint: If you have ever been faced with an emergency requiring an expensive diagnostic workup and hospitalization as well as ongoing astronomically expensive medical management for your pet—I’m sure many people have to make the heartbreaking decision for euthanasia as the medical bills are just overwhelming. I was faced with this, my dog had a bleeding ulcer and irritable bowel disease (I am told is similar to Crohn’s disease in humans). There was absolutely no way that I could have my best friend with his big brown eyes—euthanized. I actually wasn’t sure that Healthy Paws Insurance would cover everything or anything and I just had to put it out of my mind. I just kept telling the providers to do everything they could. I got calls from the University saying that they needed to do a certain procedure etc and that it would cost a certain amount and that I had to put half down. I think my first “half down” was about 2200.00 or more. Then there is the part where you make it through the testing, initial treatment and return home with a 24/7 regiment of frequent around the clock medications and tube feedings. That alone is exhausting but adding in all the other things one has to do in life—it feels unsustainable. The last thing a person needs is to deal with is insurance ie. requests to “provide documentation” to support the claim. I did receive a couple requests for more documentation but at my request—I think Healthy Paws did contact the medical provider (and in one case I had called medical records and ask them to send all information they could to the insurance company—I was told they had sent 83 pages of documentation for one short hospital stay) I was so tired I didn’t even read half the claim update information so I wasn’t sure Healthy Paws was paying for anything. When I finally did, I was very happy/relieved to see that they actually are an excellent company and reimburse according to your policy i.e. 80/20 or 90/10 etc. I can’t address or evaluate the other companies out there but you certainly will be in good hands with Healthy Paws. In this “day and age” the cost of veterinary care is unaffordable if you don’t have insurance. I highly recommend Healthy Paws for your choice of pet insurance as you never want to be faced with a decision in which you have to euthanize a pet because the medical care/treatment is unaffordable.

Claims made easy

Our Black Lab tore her CCL and needed surgery. Healthy Paws entire process from claim submission to reimbursement was quick and seamless, letting us focus on getting our family member healthy again and getting the right care, rather than worrying about the costs and how we could afford it all. We highly recommend them!

Healthy Paws has been awesome

Not only have they covered nearly all of my malamutes recent lameness-including MRI, xrays, ultrasound, chiropractice, physical therapy, et...., but their payments were prompt, usually within 1 week. The no cap on payouts is literally a life saver. I could not have provided Moira as much excellent care without the insurance. They emailed to check on her progress. When we had to let our 13 year old husky pass on, I received a sympathy card, hand signed with personal notes from their staff. They obviously care about the animals that they insure. This is way more than a business for them.
