Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

To Whom It May Concern, I brought home a sweet Havanese puppy named Peanut from a local breeder who had been breeding for over 30 years. We instantly fell in love with him. Although, I was initially unsure about getting pet insurance, I ultimately decided to move forward with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and I’m so glad I did! A year later, Peanut began having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. I reached out to the breeder, who assured me that in all her years of breeding, she had never encountered a dog with this condition, Peanut was her first. As time went on, Peanut was also diagnosed with liver disease, then heart disease, and most recently, bowel disease. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. To date, Peanut's has had over 220 claims. Without insurance, I can’t imagine how I would have managed the financial burden. Not only does Healthy Paws consistently and efficiently cover claims, but they also take the time to check in on Peanut. They treat him like family, and that level of care means the world to me. I wholeheartedly recommend Healthy Paws to anyone with a pet. Their support has allowed me to focus on loving and caring for Peanut, rather than worrying about overwhelming vet bills. The claims process is so easy and takes the worry about how to pay for your pet’s emergency care away, when all you should be worrying about is getting your pet better! I wish human claims paid out that fast!

We are so grateful for the coverage that Healthy Paws has provided for our amazing dog, Wally. We didn't know what was wrong with him but he was limping and stiff and lethargic, and it was getting worse. It turns out the vet had to do lots of (expensive) testing but they found out that he had TWO tick-borne illnesses! We would never have known if we hadn't been able to get the blood tests. Healthy Paws helped cover the costs, the process is so easy via the app, and Wally is already feeling tons better and on the road to recover and returning to his sweet silly self. WARNING IF YOU ARE EVEN CONSIDERING INSURANCE THROUGH THIS GROUP. We've had Healthy Paws pet insurance for our cat for the past 15 years. His rates originally started at $20 a month. Rates have gone up pretty significantly over the years. We now pay about $300 a month. This is expensive. However, our has cancer and we have figured the insurance is worth keeping. As of today, we were notified our monthly rate is increasing to over $900 a MONTH. This is not just an annual "price increase" and is now completely unaffordable. I've tried talking to the insurance company on the phone and was told there is nothing they can do. Unfortunately, due to my cats age and cancer we can't get insurance elsewhere. This honestly seems completely unethical. They charge people for years while theur animals are healthy. Then, raise insurance rates dramatically when people actually need them. Honestly, this is dispicable and I am disgusted with this supposedly reputable company.
