My dog was diagnoised with Splenic stromal sarcoma in Nov 2025. Her spleen, the mass, a a portion of her liver was removed. It was malignant. She been under going Chemo every 2 weeks.
The financial expense was staggering. I am so grateful to have Healthy Paws Pet insurance. Not only have they paid 80% of the medical bills but, it is done in such a easy process. I filled a claim on a Friday and by Monday the funds were in my checking account. The best customer service during this trying time. They also follow up to chek on my dog. I highly recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance to everyone who has a pet. Affordable, low deductible and outstanding customer service from a company who cares about you and your pet!
I would like to leave my review about this pet health insurance.
Maya has been insured with this company since she was a puppy, back in 2016, when she was just a few months old. We got the insurance as a precaution. When she was 10 months old, she fractured a bone in her leg. She had surgery, and the insurance reimbursed us 80%.
She remained on this insurance for several years. When I found out that my husband had canceled her policy, I immediately reactivated it on October 15, 2021. Maya was going to turn 6 in December.
Unfortunately, on February 10, 2022, Maya needed another surgery to remove the pin from her leg. As she grew, the pin had shifted into her knee, and she was having difficulty walking. She underwent the second surgery, and I filed a claim — but they did not reimburse me, stating it was a pre-existing condition.
I was very upset, because they were already aware of her full medical history, including the first surgery. However, since the policy had been canceled and then reactivated, I believe they may have assumed we were trying to take advantage of the situation, which was not the case at all.
I eventually let it go, although I remained very disappointed, and we paid for everything out of pocket.
She has remained insured to this day. Recently, she had to undergo yet another surgery on the same leg — her third surgery, in 2026. Maya is now 10 years old. This time, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had to have her leg amputated. The insurance reimbursed 80% of the costs.
Overall, I would not give this insurance 5 stars. Because of the second surgery, which I believe should have been covered, I cannot rate it that highly. However, considering the customer service and the speed of reimbursement, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
I also would not give 5 stars because I consider the monthly premium of $228.69 to be quite expensive.
Healthy Paws makes filing a claim so easy you can do it on the way to your car as you leave the vet's office. What's more amazing though, is that the money appeared in my account within just a few days. It really could not be simpler, which made a stressful situation with our beloved dog's health much more tolerable.
Ziggy got botulism from eating a decaying iguana resulting in paralysis. He was hospitalized at Hollywood VCA for 10 days and the entire staff was awesome. Their constant attention and encouragement helped him recover sufficiently to be discharged home. And now pleased to say that after 4 1/2 weeks he is full recovered. Many thanks to Dr Heim and the whole staff!! As far as insurance goes, I have to say that filing the claims was easy and I was reimbursed really quickly. I don't know what I would have done without the 70% paid of a very large bill
My 5 year old dog needed surgery unexpectedly. I submitted the claims as soon as I had the receipts and records. I received my reimbursement exactly as I was supposed to in less than a week! It was a huge relief and I am so happy I went with Healthy Paws for my pet insurance.
