Honestly, when your pet is healthy, you don't want to hear from your pet insurance. When your pet is sick, you only want them to hold their end of the contract and pay for what's agreed upon. When our cat Cassie died after a battle with aggressive cancer, Healthy Paws went through all the claims and medical history without any friction and paid what they had to pay (about $16,000 in total). They did send condolences (an auto-generated email, of course), but that's not going to matter when you're heartbroken. What did matter was the comfort of knowing we didn't have to skip Cassie's treatment out of financial burden. When it was time to say goodbye to her, we did it with her end-of-life comfort in mind, not out of financial stress.

Very solid pet insurance
I’ve been with Healthy Paws for over a year and I can only say that it’s an exceptional service. They have been quick on reimbursements with typically 24 to 48 hours turnaround once they have the VET soap notes. This is a five star company - and it provides superb peace of mind for the Pet owner. There’s nothing scarier than having your pet present an issue that has never come up before. It would be nice if pets could talk, but having the peace of mind knowing that I have Healthy Paws Pet Insurance takes this sting out.
Our little puppy is only 14 months old, but the policy has easily paid it for itself many times over, and Healthy Paws has earned not only our respect, but also the referrals of our friends and family.
Monthly Cost
$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.
Coverage
One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more.
You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%.
The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.
Payout Limits
No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.
Deductible
You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750*
*Choice depends on age of the pet
Age Limits
Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment.
Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.
Exclusions
Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
