HEALTHY PAWS IS PAWESOME!
I have had my two pups for almost 9 years. On January 1, 2014, one of my pups ruptured a disc in her back. At that time, I did NOT have pet insurance. After $7,000 in surgery/meds and 10 months of recovery...I decided maybe I should LOOK into pet insurance. I did ALOT of research. The one company that stood out was HEALTHY PAWS. I decided to get the coverage. I selected the lowest deductible per month for each pup and selected the highest payout coverage for each. I called my pups vet and the surgeon and asked them to email my pups records so I could send to Healthy Paws. Once I received those files, I emailed them to Healthy Paws. It was VERY clear on what they cover. NO PET INSURANCE will cover PRE-EXISTING conditions. Makes purrfect sense to me. Now some companies cover annual shots/exams/teeth cleaning/heartworm meds/etc. HOWEVER those that do...have a CAP of what they will pay out. Here is my opinion on PET INSURANCE. If you are lucky enough to have a dog in your life.....one thing you should know.....SPAY/NEUTER/ANNUAL SHOTS/HEARTWORM...is all something that EVERY pet owner should do no matter what....it is part of being a responsible pet owner. I knew when I rescued my pups...there is a cost to ensuring they are healthy and happy and loved. BUT in the event something happens that is out of the normal range of taking care of your pet....snake bite, hurt paw/leg/back or any long term illness (paws crossed no one ever experiences this)...HEALTHY PAWS is INCREDIBLE. So...after my dog hurt her back...I got coverage for both pups. Oh doggie am I HAPPAWY I DID! Since then, that same pup, had eye surgery (a big growth started growing in her eyelid), her right knee gave out...surgery for that....a year and a couple months later the left knee gave out..surgery for that. So what did I pay for these 3 surgeries? 10% of the cost!!! All meds that were prescribed after these surgeries were covered as well at 90%. Oh..and the BEST thing is....if you download the app...you get home from vet....click on the APP...click on picture of PUP that you have....click on FILE a new claim...take a picture of the vet bill and hit submit. Then a check magically appears in your mailbox!!!! What if you don't know if something is covered? Easy...either call them (they are SUPER friendly!!! OR just send it in via the APP. If it is not covered they will deny it and provide the reason. So...I did an analysis of what I have paid each month in premiums and
