How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Alouette Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Today my husband brought our 15 year old cat in. We think he had, had a stroke. He wasn't able to move the back half of his body and had vomited all over the floor near where we found him. he was told 50$ vet check and 400$ to put him down. I called as my husband was in shock the receptionist was FAR from kind, gentle, caring or even understanding that I was also in shock. I was basically told that's going rate for the weight. 6 pounds.... my 15 year old indoor frail cat. I have no words. Actually I do have some, they are our dogs normal vet, NOT after today. They will not see another nickel from my family. Money hungry, heartless people in time of heart ache.

I took in my 16-year-old cat because she had something on her skin. After a good look at her, the vet told me that the tumour would need to be removed, she had a red stripe on her tooth which was called something like absorption, and it would have to be removed, and also she was in severe pain with osteoarthritis in her hips and spine, and all of this was gonna cost thousands of dollars. I took her for a second opinion to another vet, and was told that the tumour was a skin tag, there was no red stripe on the tooth and no issues with her teeth and had I’ve been brushing them because they were like the teeth of a small kitten. He did some tests (which the other doctor did not do) . There was no inflammation, no infection, no sign of arthritis. This was all just a money crap. I was really downhearted for quite a while, thinking that an actual vet was going to be doing that to one of their patients. I was told because of this horrible arthritis that she had that she would need to come in every month and get a shot of Solencia at $165 a month. This should be illegal. It’s definitely immoral. So so disappointed in this vet. And as another writer has said, there was no heart in the person at the reception desk.

We took our cat there for an issue and were gouged. And the procedure was not done well and had to be done twice more and they still tried to charge us again. At least our cat got better eventually but we were not impressed with their service. And then THEY RELEASED INFORMATION WITHOUT OUR CONSENT to a third party. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Alouette Animal Hospital takes care of our dog and cat thoroughly. They are patient, attentive and have helped us through some scary times. The office staff are also so helpful and efficient! They book appointments as soon as possible, and have made time in cases of emergencies. Thank you.
