Fast, efficient service, well appreciated
Having adopted another older dog following the demise of a previous older dog that had about $10,000 worth of health problems in the 2.5 years I had her, I decided to try pet heath insurance with my latest elderly dog adoption. Unfortunately after nearly 3 years of good luck and great experience, my dog has developed liver cancer. After tests and biopsy, it looks like supportive/comfort care is what we're left with. Trupanian worked as advertised. Easy to file a claim on line. I got the results of my claim acceptance in less than a week. My reimbursement will be arriving by check in the near future. Reallyi excellent service and good coverage as well.

Waare of money. Good customer service
Customer service was great! Just not great reimbursement I had add ons to the pet insurance. With my wellness visit. Medication wasn’t covered, the vaccines listed in the policy wasn’t covered. They only thing they cover was 15% if flea/tick and heart guard. Not worth the $60 monthly not to get reimbursed for the things that should be covered.

Everything is a pre-existing condition
We adopted a dog in February, 2021. Since he was transported from down South with a van full of dogs, he developed kennel cough that needed to be treated shortly after he arrived. He fully recovered from that with antibiotics. That was the start of our issues with Embrace. He developed another cough, with no close contact with other dogs, several months later. This was determined to be a "pre-existing condition", apparently simply because it was respiratory, and even though the earlier cough had completely cleared up and he had been healthy for months. Our most recent interaction with Embrace was the topper. He was diagnosed with heartworm, and you guessed it, the claim was rejected as a pre-existing condition, even though I see no connection between respiratory infections that have been cured and newly-diagnosed heartworm, and neither does out vet. Apparently, everything is now a pre-existing condition in Embrace's eyes. I don't see what the point is in pet insurance if nothing, even things that are seemingly unrelated, aren't covered. It may make more sense to cancel the policy, save the premiums, and pay out of pocket, since that's what we're doing anyway.

So far so good
So far so good. I have had a few claims first puppy visit, first shots and received payment super quick and easy. Thanks for being such a great company.

Some positives, but costs an arm and a leg
I really like how responsive they are. Having a live vet on hand is a great resource although some have given me weird advice. There has been times where they pay out the day after I submit my case. It feels like my premium gets raised significantly each year. It’s almost as expensive for my health insurance for two dogs with less benefits which is ridiculous because they cover less things and don’t cover medication. Since my dog has a preexisting condition- I can’t move to another company.

Pet Insurance is a must, Trupanion is a dependable provider
Our first year of dog ownership has been unexpectedly expensive, and would have been much more so if we hadn't signed up for pet insurance immediately. Our boston terrier puppy has had a string of unexpected and costly medical issues, including a drawn-out stay in the hospital for vomiting and stomach issues and a surgery to correct breathing issues. We've found Trupanion's coverage to be fair to their policy promises and their claim processing has been overall fast and painless. I would say check with your vet to see if they are able to process your claims directly. Ours does not, but we found the online claims system was pretty easy to navigate. In short, pet insurance is an absolute must for all new puppy parents considering how much medical treatment costs these days, and we've had a positive experience with Trupanion and would recommend them to others.

Choose Trupanion for emergency coverage
In March 2020, right as COVID shutdowns started, my older dog, Otis, needed to have emergency surgery for a twisted colon. I was a mess, waiting alone in my car in the hospital parking lot for seven hours until the surgery was complete. At one point, the front desk called to ask for approval for the surgery, noting that it would be expensive. My tearful response was, "I don't care. I have Trupanion. Just fix my dog." They did and Otis made a full speedy recovery. Trupanion also made it easy for the hospital to file claim paperwork on my behalf, meaning that I didn't need to pay out-of-pocket and wait for reimbursement. Unfortunately, Otis will likely need surgery soon for a lung tumor. I'm worried about that but having Trupanion means I don't need to worry about how to pay for it and what might or might not be covered.
