Disaster
Disaster, -completely. After paying 10 years of pet insurance, we finally had enough! Trupanion pays close to zero in each claim. Always exclusions, exceptions and excuses. Called to cancel and no apology nor offer to make-it-right. That completely defines Trupanion as a company. Nothing. Our little one is almost 16 years and now very ill. We have paid out-of-pocket repeatedly. Make no mistake, Trupanion is an American company. Don’t be fooled by the Canadian Maple Leaf or .ca website extension. No oversight nor governmental institutions you can complain to. Trupanion takes your money, does not pay-out on claims; earns and keeps accrued interest (no escrow account here!) they receive from the millions of people and then reinvest that money to make even more millions…all the time denying legitimate claims. Moreover, Trupanion gives Canadians no transparency nor accountability when it comes to how their information is stored, used and who had access. No such thing as PIPEDA in the US. Trupanion has no written privacy policy on how your information is stored, who has access, how many times it may have been accessed by any (US) authority. I’ve read through many of the positive reviews on TrustPilot. There are many congruencies with covered claims and those that have been denied to me by Trupanion. What criteria are used here to deny or approve a claim?!!!! You cannot tell me that it is written verbatim. Decisions are based on the subjective whim of your adjusters. What are the statistics of claims approval/denial for Canadian customers? Keep your money people, - simply set aside monthly what you would have given Trupanion and you will always have enough to pay out-of-pocket yourself. P.S. Get Stuffed!!! Don’t bother responding, - not interested in hearing. Who is the underwriter and regulatory body for Trupanion in Canada? Complaints will be forthcoming.

Signing-up with Spot was easy and thorough.
We just signed-up our cat Little Girl Jr. for Spot Pet Insurance. The process was easy and understandable. We currently don't have a need to file a claim, but we have peace-of-mind that Little Girl Jr. is covered!

Long-term, caring care
Have had them for ~7 years now. I did a ton of research beforehand and HealthyPaws were (and still are) the best out there and my vets agree. I still give verbal recommendations anytime anyone needs insurance. They are always quick to process claims, upfront in what is covered (and that's almost everything except Vet Exams) and they follow up after payment to ensure everything is well with you and your pet. It's the little touches like this that make them exceptional. I know it's a business, but it doesn't feel like it's always "just business" with HealthyPaws.
