Just as Bad as People Insurance
Pets Best is no different than your typical human health plan. They offer limited coverage amounts for SOME needs, with categories quickly meeting their limit (even for a healthy pet!). We're in the process of getting our 18-month-old Newfie spayed. I say "in the process" because when we brought her in on the day she was to have the procedure the vet ran pre-op blood work and determined she had a low platelet count. We postponed the operation until we could determine the cause. Suspecting it was Lyme, the vet tested. Negative. They ran a few other tests to determine the cause. While we waited a few days for the results, I submitted the claim to Pet's Best. Two weeks later they finally responded of the $300+ bill they covered $30. The items for which the vet billed us either weren't covered by our policy (we have both Best Wellness and BestBenefit plans), or we had reached the maximum allowable limit for the particular service. The allowable limits are laughably low ($70 for blood tests), so those get burned through pretty quickly. Like most insurance companies, Pet's Best uses that infuriating language that's unique to their industry. Co-pay, co-insurance, deductible, etc. This is maddening when you're just trying to get some help with your pet's well-being and you're stymied by what the documentation says. I'm convinced the real problem with healthcare in our country, be it for people or pets, isn't the providers. It's the insurance companies. We're scheduled to have her spay done in about a month. We'll see if Pet's Best will pay out the whopping $150 they say they'll cover for a spay. We'll still have to pay close to $1000.

Very easy to get a quote and purchase insurance. Would recommend to anyone to at least check Sonnet out, I've previously had renter's/tenant's insurance through them and they make everything simple and provide a lot of information on why they need to know certain things about you and why it impacts your quote, etc. They may not always be the cheapest, but they're the easiest to deal with in my opinion.

Couldn’t even get the address right and couldn’t fix it by simply changing the address even tho it was a lawyer’s document proving the address was wrong. Horrible experience.

This is my second positive review in…
This is my second positive review in the last few weeks! Trupanion covered 90% of my vet bills twice in the past two years for my chihuahua (vomiting). This past Monday my chihuahua had knee surgery. My vet contacted Trupanion directly (I didn’t even have to make a call) and Trupanion paid the $2000 deposit prior to surgery and then paid 90% of my bill (over $5000!!!!!). I am just overwhelmed with gratitude and so happy I made the decision to choose Trupanion. I would have NEVER been able to afford this surgery (even if I had been saving for a couple of years). I understand that not everyone’s claims are accepted and I feel horrible for them. I am just sharing my own positive experiences. My plan is for 90% coverage with ZERO deductible. My monthly payment is a lot, but for me, it is worth it 100 times over 👌🏻

Avoid
It has been one year since a fire in our apartment and the claim is still in dispute. Poor communication, lack of clarity and just sheer lying and disregard for our situation is what we have dealt with. I would never recommend to anyone. EVER. If you choose to go with them be sure to comb through all fine print and know your rights prior to making a claim. Also hire a paralegal to protect your rights.

EZ PZ ( Easy Peazy )
Always enjoyed the humorous TV ad for Sonnet, so when I got yet another increase of 20% from my existing Home Insurance carrier, and unsuccessfully asked that They shop for a better quote, I decided to try Sonnet and the Online approach, and so very glad I did. Great Coverage w/o all the complications, EZ on the sign-up, concise explanations, and a 28% saving. Monthly pay with no addt'l charge. I am finished with furnishing new office towers for the Big Insurance monoliths....There is a better way and with Sonnet, so Far ..so Good , and so Uncomplicated!
