Trupanion unethical denied claim stating dental…

Trupanion denied claim stating dental absences a year before had same symptoms as intestinal lymphoma of not eating, lymphoma and vomiting. Leaving cat to die regardless of urgency of treatment and stating could appeal and wait weeks before decision and leaving me to hopefully to have many thousands of dollars to pay for treatment after paying premiums to them. Obviously the condition did not exist a year before or my cat would not be alive now without treatment and the entire thing is absolutely absurd and unethical and. Immoral. I asked them to make this an urgent appeal as life threatening and they refused saying they don’t have to except in some states and not one I live in. Trupanion what is number to reach you ? The one I call they just blabber that case has to wait up to 60 days regardless of urgency and it doesn’t matter it’s now cancer and last year a toot abcess some symptoms overlap and that why denied. Such as lethargy vomit not eating which is ridiculous. It may as well have been a giant hairball. Is this the executive office ? My cats and other pets could need thousands in treatment that I had to pay to save my cats life because you said intestinal lymphoma diagnosis that some of the symptoms overlapping with a tooth abcess and tape worm. I will not waste time caring the online number for 6 th time. Please give me a different direct number to reach other than customer service and claims denial people who did not have grounds to deny in first place and now forced an appeal. Also please answer here why your company doesn’t have life threatening appeals as urgent and have them looked at within 72 hours which is the law in Washington state where you are located but doesn’t do that for our cat because we are in state doesn’t require that so u can let him wait and die ? Why would u let an animal in urgent need treatment die waiting up to 60 days to look at his appeal if you were an ethical company. Please post this answer here so other people know exactly how you do operate as well as me and that you don’t have a fair grounds denial process or priority process to appeal by urgency depending what state you live in.An appeal to treat a dog with cured diarrhea for 100 will go in same pile as dog needing immediate life saving treatment for cancer and not eating and dying with in a few days and one needing immediate care for being hit by car if Trupanion says dog had similar symptoms like lethargy say from a previous condition like he ate a rock and needed it removed 4 years before and would not eat and they don’t look at the entire truth this forcing an incorrect denial years later with cancer as pre existing do to some overlapping conditions and they have scammed customers out of payment unless they appeal and outright killed the pet if the cyst can’t pay for treatment until the appeal is approved if ever or then taken to court. Yes Trupanion please explain the real truth and the high percentage of denials and appeals you have. I wish I never changed from Healthy paws because you deny all claims almost except on a kitten where he has no history to say it was preexisting so you can’t. Meanwhile my current cats bills are continuing and I can’t submit because my claim is sitting in appeal not even assigned I was told over 2 weeks now and that’s just to bad and your policy is it can take 8 weeks no urgent appeal request allowed in my state. How entirely immoral. I will ad that very shortly after my updated review I was contacted by a Liason who was also as in awe as I was about what happened and stated that Trupanion should not have denied the initial claim as well as does have an appeal process to put critical cases first that are life threatening and didn’t know why several people told me. That was not the case and they were being spoken with. She had my cats case approved and I was very glad for that and hope this. Doesn’t happen to pets and their parents anymore.

Punitive & Retaliatory - Avoid at all Costs

Started a new policy. Contract language states that any prior issue that has been treated in the past 6mo-1yr will be considered a pre-existing condition. However, they marked a minor muscle contusion from 2 years prior that had no reoccurrence or continued care as a pre-existing condition. When I resubmitted medical records (which they already had) to have it removed, they added SIX MORE pre-existing conditions for things like allergies because he had one instance more than 2 years ago of a skin irritation. They then followed up with this gem: "New relevant medical records or related novel medical information received after this review may lead to the identification of additional noted pre-existing conditions." TLDR; "Fine, we'll remove this pre-existing condition that should have never been entered in the first place by our own rules, but we're going to add six more so take that." Absolutely garbage practices. They're really leaning into "We're here to make money, not help you."
