Healthy Paws Pet Insurance

I have had Ruby insured with Healthy Paws for over 4 years and her dental issue for trauma to a tooth was the first claim I needed to file. Could not have asked for a better response to the processing and payment of the claim. So happy we have this protection for Ruby—Thanks Healthy Paws!!

Super Helpful

My claim process was incredibly simple and quick! It was my first time, so I was honestly expecting it to take a while and not expecting to get the claim approved for a few days. The process was incredibly user friendly, took all of 5 minutes, and the claim was immediately approved with money in my account the next day.

Harley

An ER visit and five nights in the hospital saved our sweet little girl. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which doesn't have a high survival rate...excellent care by the ER doctors saved her life. Treatment is ongoing and thankfully, we have pet insurance with Healthy Paws. Reimbursement has been speedy and the follow-up exceptional. I never expected an insurance company to ask how our girl was feeling. I highly recommend Healthy Paws!

Starts out great, then "wham!" -- they jack the rates up by 30 - 40% annually even if you never use the policy

I had this insurance for one year. I was able to benefit from some signup discounts. I enrolled my dog at 11 weeks of age. He was healthy and I submitted zero claims for accident/illness over the year. The wellness plan is basically a holding account; you pay a certain amount that they hold for you and give you your own money back for qualifying wellness expenses as you incur and submit "claims" (it functions like an HSA, Health Savings Account). When it came time to renew my policy, despite the fact that I submitted zero claims for accident or illness, they told me that I could expect a 30 - 40% increase in the cost of coverage EVERY YEAR, regardless of whether or not I use the policy. They embrace your money, and keep on squeezing. While rising costs is an issue for all types of insurers, some carriers do not systematically raise rates annually (and by such a whopping percentage that is way higher than the rate of inflation). Some offer discounts and incentives if you wind up not using the policy. I'm going to try somebody else who won't squeeze me like a boa constrictor.

So Easy to File a Claim

The mobile app makes is seamless to file a claim. Response time is good. So pleased that I have already referred to people to get MetLife Pet Insurance.

PetsBest is truly THE BEST!

I'll be very honest, I was skeptical this pet insurance thing really worked. I'm happy to say I was very wrong!! Our dog racked up nearly $3,000 in vet bills over a 4 day period. PetsBest answered the call and reimbursed 90% of those bills (per the coverage I have). They are GREAT! I would HIGHLY recommend them!

Don't believe the posivie reviews

After submitted five claims over six months and having them all rejected, I realized that this was a premium-collection company, not an insurance company. I was conned and I accept that. However, two weeks after advising them I was cancelling the policy I received a notice that they were raising my monthly premium. Reason: dog is a "shepherd mix" and not a "mixed" breed, as i indicated when I signed up--of course, shepherd mix was not an option. I can't say if pet insurance is a scam generally, but if you're shopping for coverage, I'd pass on Embrace.

Wonderful pet insurance

I have had a few pet insurance companies previously. MetLife is by far the best! Easy to submit claims. Never a hassle processing claims. Claims are quickly processed and there are multiple choices for reimbursement! Great experience overall! I have been using them for the last 9 months and I am very pleased!

Useless customer service

My decision to get pet insurance weighed on any potential pre-existing conditions my cat may have, as she's had some urinary issues in the past and I don't want to be surprised if they won't cover future claims. I requested a medical review the day I started my policy, but they require you to wait 14 days. After giving them all the vet information, they say you won't hear anything during the 30 days it takes for them to do the review. After 30 days I follow up several times to see where the results are, to find out that they don't have records from one of the vets. It's now been 40 days and they have sent a single email to the vet, no follow up emails or call (and I didn't know we were waiting on this, not the review or I would've called). They send another request and I call the vet the same day and they say they've already sent the records and have no record of any other requests being sent! I ask the Embrace rep for proof of their first request and they relent--they did not send a request for 38 days. Apparently "We, unfortunately, cannot monitor each and every request sent daily but we try and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible." means they send at best one email and do nothing else without your intervention. At my job, I would be expected to follow up and, if a customer is coming to me after a month of waiting, I would be calling, not emailing, to get a response ASAP. I assume this lack of tenacity extends to their claims processing. Only after sending another email do they promise to rush the actual review. Once I got the review, I noticed they had dates of lab work incorrect so the curable pre-existing conditions wouldn't be waived for an additional 2 months. I'm sure I could've fought this but I didn't see a point. I'd rather just pay vet bills than add this kind of back and forth to my workload. Of course when I asked for the 40 extra days they made me wait for the medical results to be added to my pro-rated refund when I cancelled, they said "we can't do a full refund" which was not what I was asking for. Their attention to detail is atrocious. This was a waste of my time and $100.
