I am a walking billboard for Pets Best
I am a walking billboard for Pets Best! as a matter of fact I have sent links to other fur parents in the waiting room of vet hospitals for Pets Best to encourage them to get insurance for their babies so they can get the best care for them without breaking the bank. I have had Pets Best insurance coverage for my Phoebe ( purebred Persian cat) since I got her at age 8 months. I did everything I could pre adoption to make sure she was healthy but since we have had her, we’ve had two medical incidents, the latest now chronic and I don’t know how we could have gotten through it without the fantastic coverage and experience with PB. I’ll detail the things that are difference makers for us: 1) Affordability - for the coverage we have ( includes breed specific underlying conditions, $250 deductible, $5,000 annual limit) the monthly premium is so reasonable and worth every penny ( we hit our annual limit last year) 2) Easy no hassle process- unlike human health insurance the claims submission process is sooooo easy. I just request all my providers to email me the receipt and paid invoice or I take a photo of my cat’s medicine container with the prescription receipt and just forward the email to the claims email along with our policy number. ( no email copy necessary) and they follow up with a confirmation of receipt and you can then look on the website to see the status. On the rare occasion that I had a question because a claim needed more info, I got a human on the phone immediately and they were instantly helpful and they clearly care about you and your pet. I have never had a legit claim disputed which I don’t take for granted. 3) GREAT FAST coverage- I didn’t buy the preventative plan but for EVERYTHING associated with the medical issues I have had ( excluding the explicitly stated items like deworming which I imagine is due to care and condition issues that are the owner’s responsibility) no hassles and the claims are processed quickly and i get the checks in a timely fashion 100% accurate which helps with my cash flow given the credit card due date for the payment. Be smart and do yourself and your fur babies a favor and give yourself peace if mind and look into getting insurance for your pet and definitely consider Pets Best. I am so grateful I did it. Good luck.

Submitted my claim for my pet’s annual check up. Only $65 of the more than $350 was covered. The insurance should cover wellness visits. I plan to cancel.

Do your research before committing
For one of the top tier pet insurance companies out there, they really try their best to take every dollar from you. My dog has been to the vet for the same ongoing issue 4 times over the past 2 years and still gets charged a deductible for the same issue. My vet submits an appeal but Trupanion always comes back with, the vet could not provide sufficient amount of a medical connection between the visits, therefore you will be charged a deductible. Last visit to the vet cost me $480 and got back $111 and I wasn't charged a deductible this time.

Disappointed ☹️
I have had this insurance for my pup for 6 years. I have put in only two claims. One last year after his annual physical for $217. My reimbursement was $70. This year after his physical and needed vaccines and lab work. The bill was $342. When I submitted my claim, they asked for his health records for the past six years. Why???? After receiving the records, they had the nerve to reimburse me $70 again. Why do I have this insurance for. I can just open an account for my pup, put the current monthly premium ($1,448) in that account and use it for his health care., this makes more sense than giving them my money. I choose ASPCA, because I thought they would be more reliable, I guess when it comes to money no body is.

Automate Review Process Highly Inaccurate
On 1/31/24, I submitted 4 claims for my dog. One claim was handled correctly. One was mishandled. Two were automatically denied as duplicates, which they weren't. In addition, a new claim was created inappropriately for services I never claimed. To address all these problems, I had to call Embrace four separate times. Each time, the Customer Service Representative (CSR) was knowledgeable and helpful. What I realized was that the automated systems in place work very poorly. Specifically, the automated system cannot handle documentation for more that one Date of Service at a time. That is fine. However, the instructions should be clear for owners to include documentation for only one Date of Service at a time. Drontal Plus is typically a preventive medication. However, my dog was on it for treatment purposes. My claim was initially denied automatically because Drontal Plus was the medication used. I supplied appropriate documentation to justify that Drontal Plus was being used as a treatment. I had to call to request an adjustor read the documentation. I should not have to do that. I had two claims for Drontal Plus denied, despite providing documentation that is was used as a treatment medication. After I called to request the first claim be approved, it was. However, the second claim was automatically denied. I had to call again to ask an adjustor to review the second claim, even though a virtually identical claim had just been approved. My suggestion is to have qualified human adjustor review the cases until the automatic processes are accurate. At this point in time, the automatic processes are highly inaccurate.
