Do not buy insurance from this company
Do not buy insurance from this company. Our dog pulled a muscle in her left leg and after taking a pain/anti-inflammatory medication was fine. A couple of months later she injured her right knee (equivalent of a torn ACL) that required surgery and they denied the claim, saying it was a preexisting condition - even though she had never had an issue with that leg.

Best Bang for Buck
I have found compared to other companies that the rates are cheaper the coverage is better the payout is faster and that they work with gofetch as another option to pay.

The customer service representative was very polite and accomodating.
The customer service representative was so helpful in answering my questions regarding claims. The only thing that changed was my first pet has better coverage than my second pet. They no longer carry the same coverage that I got for my first pet. That was a little disappointing but he still has good coverage but not as good as for my first pet.

Very disappointed
My wife put our French bulldog on this insurance and they denied our claim to have his nose surgery because when he was 8 weeks old he had a runny nose which was white in color. Now that he is full grown he needs the surgery to breathe better. The vet said it would help him tremendously if he has the surgery but just because he has a runny nose at 8 weeks old they denied him.

Use a Different Company
I truly thought using Trupanion would be a benefit. I started their service when I got my pup at just six months old. My dogs now 2 1/2 and I had a claim that took them many months to approved. When they reviewed the claim they split my claim in half so they wouldn’t have to pay the full cost. I originally took my dog in for a bump on her heel and of course they did a biopsy, and sent it off. Then they said they wanted to remove it. When I submitted the claim they split my one claim into two, so they wouldn’t have to pay the first half because it was just a vet visit and then they only paid the little percentage of the second visit and removal after my deduction, my recommendation to you, is take your money and put it in a savings account for your pet, DO NOT use Trupanion, save yourself the stress.
