Immediately canceled my policy after this

I had a policy for each of my cats. Per the contract, pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, they have a 180-day period where if a condition doesn't occur, it is not considered pre-existing. This stood out to me as a positive since pretty much no insurance company allows pre-existing conditions (this is a huge fail with health insurance, pet or human, but that's another conversation). One of my cats needed emergency surgery to remove an eye, and after I submitted the almost $2,000 claim, I found it was rejected/not covered due to it being a pre-existing condition for something that had occurred 220 days prior. One, THIS wasn't related to the other vet visit, at all -- this was an emergency. Two, it was well over the 180-day grace period even if they could try their hardest to related the two. The rep told me that since it was noted on his vet records, it IS considered pre-existing (but it was unrelated??) and it will NOT be covered. What is the point of pet insurance if they don't cover emergency surgeries which are always expensive? And what is the point of sticking with a policy/company if they don't uphold their word?

There are far better options

A company that sees your pets as bags of money with dollar signs on them. Increase in premiums are expected, however, seeing your premium go up with $1800 per year is shocking. To get zero sympathy from them just rubs salt in that wound. This after making zero claims for a year. Do not bother with this company. The people that work for them are cold and unsympathetic. Make no mistake, they run a business and your pets are the products.

Lulu

This was the most easiest claim I ever did. I sent in all my documents and within 10 days my claim was settled. They even sent me an email asking how our Lulu was recovering a week later. I recommend this insurance for your animals. Very easy and friendly service.

Reimbursement times.. over 2 months and still haven’t gotten my money back.

I have carried this insurance for over a year now. I recently submitted a string of claims for my dog who had surgery for some lumps and bumps. Though I understand reimbursement takes time, I have never experienced the wait times like I did. I would check the status of them frequently and nothing occurred until about 1.5 months later when they needed to know if I was carrying insurance from over 3 years ago. It was a little disheartening because the claims are considered finalizing but I still haven’t been reimbursed… almost 2 months later now.

Wouldn’t choose again

Insured Tut as a puppy 5 years ago. When FIGO got a new underwriter it was like starting over with a new company. There was no customer appreciation. There’s never been a claim filed, not one. Cost rose from $218 to $360. Coverage & amounts have been seriously reduced. I was told “rates have increased because he’s older” He’s 5! He’s healthy! Unless he’s dead he will get older! I love my pet’s. Unfortunately I’m not liking figo

Skeptical at first, but exceeded my expectations!

It took a bit to get connected which had me concerned. When I was connected to a veterinarian, I was super happy with the information provided. She was thorough with her responses and answered every question I had. It was nice that Pumpkin sends texts to let you know when you’ve been connected and the conversation afterwards so that I could go back and reread for any over the counter medications I needed and directions. Very please with the help I got at the price I got it!
